HELIOROC



HELIOROC is an autorotation recovery model rocket. HELIOROC boosts like a conventional rocket with its helicopter rotors folded downward, then on apogee they are released and deployed. Just like a helicopter whos motor has failed, the rotors rotate downhill and spin up. The resulting velocity across the "wings" produce lift, which reduces the velocity at which HELIOROC drops. This can result in a soft landing, or if you fly in conditions with thermals present can result in the vehicle briefly going UP during recovery!

HELIOROC is a bit more of a challenge to build and fly than many "model rockets", but it is a real crowd pleaser. Use lower thrust motors and shorter delays.

HELIOROC Begin by flying with C6-3 or D12-3 motors then progress to higher power motors such as the U.S. Rockets E12-4 or F25-8. Flys on 24mm and 18mm C thru G power! Its fragile and lightweight construction makes it important to use lower thrust motors compared to other U.S. Rockets rocket kits. Test it for yourself!
All U.S. Rockets Basic Model Rocket 5 series kits feature pre-cut wood fins, heavy duty airframe tubes, illustrated assembly and flight instructions, decal and all the high quality parts needed to successfully assemble and fly a high performance model rocket. Launcher, motors, glue, sandpaper, sealer and paint not included.



Helioroc has an unusual boost configuration with its
autorotation "wings" folded down during boost.


Helioroc rotors are released at apogee by burning
through thread that holds back the rotors during boost.
