SONIC SERIES is a kit containing three high performance model rocket kits.

MICROC (#1089 $17.95) is a supersonic capable minimal diameter 24mm motor rocket which can fly with D to G.

SONIC SOUNDER (#1021 $22.95) is also a high performance 24mm motor rocket, but with a payload section for your electronic or tracking payload.

SONIC 160 (#1022 $29.95) is a classic styled small high performance sounding rocket. Multi-stage design allows ultra high altitude flights using energy management techniques available on computer programs and reports.

SONIC SERIES (#1007 $59.95 save $10.90) contains three high performance model rockets which are both very easy to build and fun to fly. They can withstand speeds in excess of Mach 1 and will travel to altitudes of between 1000 to over 6000 feet and recover by colorful streamer. Plywood fins. The 29mm and 24mm motor mounts can also accept the INCLUDED 24mm or 18mm motor conversion mounts.

SONIC SERIES Includes a FREE report on staging and clustering, streamer recovery and large payload compartments. Motor mount 29mm (1.125") to 24mm (0.94") conversion and motor mount 24mm (0.94") to 24mm (0.94") conversion included. Allows flights with 18mm C6-7, B6-6, A8-5, 24mm C11-5, D12-7, E9-4. For best results, use a 1/4" diameter launch rod. SONIC SERIES' very strong and lightweight construction makes it fly surprisingly high compared to other rocket kit brands. Test it for yourself!

SONIC SOUNDER when used in a science or education program with our electronics option is a sensational toolset. The electronics capture acceleration vs. time, barometric pressure, particularly at apogee for altitude verification and apogee detection for recovery deployment. The electronics also can deploy a secondary recovery system or payload activation or ejection system at a moderate altitude. The dataset can be transferred to a PC, plotted and used to analyze many flight parameters including back-calculating drag, motor thrust, drag force, and other factors. This is real science.

All U.S. Rockets Basic Model Model Rocket 2 Series kits feature pre-cut wood fins, heavy duty airframe tubes, strong elastic shock cord, illustrated assembly and flight instructions, and all the high quality parts needed to successfully assemble and fly a high performance model rocket. Launcher, motors, glue, sandpaper, sealer and paint not included.




This Sonic 160 was flown at NARWIN-1, hosted by G. Harry Stine
in Arizona in 1980. It took first place in NAR F Altitude with
an FSI E60-0 to an FSI-F100-10, which combined were under 80
Newton-seconds total impulse, an F. It flew to 1041 Meters or
3414 feet to set the new record for that power class.

As a comparison, I later flew a rocket similar to the USR
Miniroc 2 with APCP composite propellant rather than black
powder propellant which achieved 1992 Meters or 6534 feet.
A new record in Sunnyvale, CA. That was with E6-0 to E6-8,
motors we had certified from the mid-80's-90's.
